Subteam Structure

Our unique subteam structure allows our members to develop essential multi-disciplinary skills for the modern workplace. To begin, design creates novel mechanisms for our robot followed by extensive prototyping. From there they make a full CAD model of our robot that is built and software created throughout the season. Throughout this time our business team works to secure funding and develop an internal organization for a smooth and efficient season. Join our team during the off-season, usually from August to November. While the season is ongoing, fill out the interest form below to save a spot at try-outs.

Recruitment is closed for this season, but please fill out our interest form to stay connected.

SUBTEAMS

  • Close-up of a detailed racing drone frame with electronic components and a protective landing pad.

    Design

The Design subteam creates a 3D CAD model of the competition robot using Onshape. By conceptualizing a model in a short time frame, design members learn to rapidly iterate designs and gain experience in product development.

  • Build

The Build subteam fabricates the robot. Build team members have an advanced knowledge of tools ranging from simple screwdrivers to a CNC router. They handle all physical aspects from electrical to mechanical engineering.

  • A group of teenagers working on robotics projects at a workshop or competition, with electronic equipment and tools on shelves around them.

    Software

The software subteam controls the hardware with an emphasis on efficiency and ease of use. Software members translate oral feedback into functional code, preparing students for an increasingly computerized world.

  • Three students wearing face masks, sitting and standing at a table, looking at a laptop, taking notes on clipboards.

    Business

The business subteam secures funds, oversees finances, and manages public outreach. They grow the team's online presence, acquire grants and sponsorships, and organize cash flow. Business members develop skills and connections essential for personal growth and entrepreneurship.
